Пациент или здоровый доброволец, которому назначается один из исследуемых препаратов.
В протоколах клинических исследований I фазы речь идёт, как правило, просто о добровольцах, а в протоколах исследований II-IV фазы — о пациентах; общее понятие "subject" (испытуемый) используется, главным образом, в документах общего характера, относящихся ко всем фазам исследований (Хельсинкская декларация, руководство ICH и т.д.). Часто речь идёт о пациентах, хотя понятно, что имеются в виду как пациенты, так и добровольцы. Это объясняется некоторой неуклюжестью термина "subject" (испытуемый).
